Describe An Alien!

Draw a picture of your idea of an alien.

Write clearly to describe your alien carefully. Tell how it looks, and smells, what it feels like, smells like. Use a pattern: top to bottom, left to right, etc.

Let your buddy draw your alien using only your written description.

Share your picture of the original alien and the buddy drawing of it. Notice similarities and differences.

Discuss with your buddy the following questions and then revise your written description of your alien.

1. In what ways did my buddy draw my alien correctly? How did he/she know to draw it that way?

2. In what ways did my buddy draw my alien incorrectly? Why did he/she draw it that way?

3. To improve my descriptive writing, how might I rewrite my writing to include a better description in the areas where my buddy did not draw my alien correctly. REWRITE IT!
